Built for production wood finishing

Envirolak makes waterborne coatings for people who finish wood for a living. The line covers the whole system: stains, glazes and binders, base coats that fill and block tannin, urethane and acrylic topcoats from dead flat to gloss, catalysts that take a 1K finish to 2K, and the additives, reducers, cleaners and colourants that keep a spray shop running.

The Color House is an Envirolak dealer. We stock the line at our North Kingstown tint lab, tint to order, and ship nationwide.

Why Envirolak

Built for shops that finish wood every day

Envirolak is a professional line, not a retail one. It is specified by cabinet and millwork shops that need repeatable results at production speed.

  • One system, not a shelf of odds and ends

Base coats, topcoats, catalysts and additives are formulated to work together, so a primer choice does not force a topcoat compromise.

  • 1K convenience, 2K performance

Several topcoats run straight from the can for general work, then take a catalyst for kitchens, baths and commercial jobs.

  • Waterborne without the compromise

Low VOC across the range, with clarity, hardness and sheen control that hold up next to solvent finishes.

  • Tinted before it leaves the store

Our North Kingstown tint lab mixes to order, so you are not chasing colour on the shop floor.

Technical questions we get asked most

A 1K finish is ready to spray straight from the can. A 2K finish has a catalyst or crosslinker added before use, which raises hardness and chemical resistance. Several Envirolak topcoats can be used either way, so you can run 1K for general work and catalyse the same product for kitchens, baths and commercial jobs.

It depends on the substrate and the finish you are after. As a rule, tannin rich woods such as oak, pine and cedar need a tannin blocking primer, MDF benefits from a high solids primer that fills and sands flat, and clear systems need a sealer rather than a pigmented primer. Call the Industrial Team with your substrate and we will spec it.

Each product page carries a Documents section with the Technical Data Sheet and, where available, the Safety Data Sheet. If a sheet you need is missing, call us and we will get it from Envirolak.

Most Envirolak topcoats and primers are available tinted or untinted. Tinting is done in our North Kingstown tint lab. Choose the Tint option on the product page, or call so we can confirm the colour before we mix it.

Envirolak ships nationwide by UPS Ground from our North Kingstown store. You can also collect from any of our five Rhode Island locations.
