In Memoriam: John A. Hauser

John A. Hauser

2/24/33-12/7/21

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our founder, John A Hauser, on December 7, 2021.

John, better known as Jack, was an extremely hard worker and dedicated family man. Jack, with his deep-rooted entrepreneurial spirit, saw an opportunity for himself and his family in 1976.  He took a risk by purchasing the then struggling Bisonate Paint Retailer located on Reservoir Ave in Cranston, RI and tirelessly worked to make his footprint in the paint community. His continued efforts led The Color House to ultimately 3 locations before passing the baton to his son and daughter in-law to continue his legacy.

Jack’s success was not measured by money, it was measured by the goodwill and generosity he demonstrated every day.  His passion for people was always grounded by his love of his garden. Often customers and professional painters would find fresh summer vegetables at the counter waiting for them as they picked up their paint for the job that day.  When not at work or in his garden Jack often would be philanthropic with his time.  Whether it be helping to rebuild a church or assisting his customers or contractors, he offered unwavering support to so many, including his family. He seldom took time off but when he did, Jack’s love for the outdoors gave him the most peace, especially riding on his tractor or tending to his iconic gardens.

He will not be forgotten by those who knew him in our community and especially those he helped along the way. We are grateful at The Color House for Jack, a steadfast leader providing a solid base for us to continue his legacy. His efforts and dedication are what empowers us today to raise the industry standard.

There is no better tribute to a person other than continuing his legacy and remembering the sacrifices along the way. For that The Color House will be making a pledge to www.onetreeplanted.org on behalf of Jack and  his love for the outdoors.  We are confident he would embrace this cause. We hope that anyone who knew Jack will honor him in the same way as for  every dollar contributed a tree is planted in his memory.

The Color House family takes comfort knowing that Jack will be remembered by those whose lives he touched in our Rhode Island community.
